august, fin

Here is it, the completed August, just in time to hand off to my sister this weekend:

I'll spare you the close-ups, since I've shown them so often already.

Ah, the satisfaction of an FO. Now I have a checked blanket on deck, another on the hook and waiting, and a scarf at the ready. But I'm not feeling too eager to launch into any of them, since I know I am mere days from all that delicious sock yarn. So maybe a quick project, or a finishing touch on one of my many WIPs to kill the time?

At any rate, I doubt I'll be updating further until after Christmas, so have a cool yule and a very Merry Christmas!

blue is the color of all that I wear

I had Eiffel 65's Blue on endless repeat in my head during this project, so I'm very glad it didn't take too long. I should've gotten off my lazy bum and put on my iPod or something, but you know how it is once you get in a rhythm.

So here is the scarf:

Close-up and fuzzy:
I'm pretty thrilled about it. This isn't my first scarf but it's the first that I like. Of course, I went in my closet and realized that my winter jacket is deep red leather, so I won't actually be able to wear this. I'll just have to find it a good home I guess. No harm there, it's more fun to give stuff away anyway.

interruption or distraction?

So I ran out of white yarn for Candy Kiss. I could go and get more - and I will, I promise - but I decided it could wait until this weekend. In the meantime, what better excuse to pick through my stash and try my hand at this:

Okay, now picture it in blue.... There you go.

I feel like I'm venturing into uncharted waters. It's called the "Starter Scarf," which at first I took as a veiled insult meaning "only for newbies and inexperienced crocheters" but I am realizing that perhaps it's a more optimistic name. As in, the start of a fresh direction and the beginning of a love affair with patterned stitches. Because, I have to tell you, I am loving the look of cable so far.

I am notorious for the half-finished project, and I'm trying not to let Candy Kiss slip from my mind in light of this newly-discovered interest in cable. There are too many sweaters, blankets, and random knick-knacks that have fallen by the wayside due to my mercurial passions.

I also managed to finish Harry Potter #7 this week. I feel so let down...
