freecycle

As I've begun the tedious (for me) and difficult (for me) process of picking up about 500 stitches around the collar of the woodland sweater, I don't have anything new on that front.

So what I did accomplish last night was setting up my first freecycle drop. Someone was kind enough to take some empty baby food jars off of my hands, and someone else will be enjoying my favorite pair of maternity shorts this summer.

I also sewed a button back on to lil' b's Hawaiian shirt, and hopefully set up a Fair Trade agreement with a friend... my sewing/darning skills in exchange for her delicious breads and organic produce. I'm hoping to lure my homebrew friend into a beer/wine swap, but we shall see.

I also read through Start Spinning, as the library didn't have Respect the Spindle available.

But mostly, I tortured myself over lil' b's new penchant for requesting time-outs. He has been refusing to go to sleep at night, opting instead to say "It's okay, I'd like a time-out. I'll be very quiet!" and go bounding down to his time-out chair with much enthusiasm. I don't want to be mean, but I don't know what to do with a child who likes time-outs so much. Any suggestions?

The other day the Monks got in trouble and was more than happy to be sent to his room. My mister said, "no, your going to sit out here and watch Tour de France and then tell me the names of 5 riders."

Suddenly I hear crying and the Monks saying, "that's not fair! Mama never punishes me that bad!"
Time for a new punishment?

So funny about the time outs.
Also great for you to be cleaning out and finding earth friendly solutions to the extra "stuff".

My oldest son liked time-outs and I use to have struggles with daughter around bed time. I clearly state time for bed, do the night time routine (brush teeth, read a book) then I leave the room. If she gets out we put her back in this time just in the bed and leave the room - after a couple of nights there was no struggle. Time-out shouldn't be an option it should be time of reflection - just make him aware that it's not an option.
